Head of Department - Electrical

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced Head of Department for its Electrical discipline, leading the engineering team for onshore and offshore projects for a high-profile client. The role drives engineering excellence, ensures safe and high-quality delivery and acts as a subject-matter expert for the wider organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Drive engineering delivery and performance, including HSSEA culture, engineering integrity, compliance, process safety and support for technical assurance, audits and incident investigations
• Manage discipline resources against workload and budget, support workforce planning and collaborate with other discipline managers on engineering execution plans
• Support business development, review proposal manhours and provide discipline input to proposals
• Set the vision for the Discipline Engineering Group, manage direct reports, handle recruitment, development and succession planning, and maintain competence assurance frameworks
• Develop discipline processes, procedures, manuals and software tools, and guide compliance with codes, standards and regulations
• Identify innovation and margin-improvement opportunities and lead continuous improvement through change management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree as a minimum in a relevant engineering discipline
• Minimum 25 years of experience in onshore and offshore mega projects (capex over 2 billion USD)
• Minimum 5 years as Head of Discipline
• Experience in ASSESS, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design stages
• Extensive electrical engineering delivery experience with over 100K manhours
• Experience with ADNOC, Qatar Energy, KNPC, KOC, BGC, BP and Shell

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of IEEE, IEC and ISO codes and Middle East client specifications
• Good knowledge of electrical power systems
