Head of Financial Accounting & Reporting (MENAT)

About the role

This senior finance leadership position is responsible for end‑to‑end financial accounting and reporting for HSBC Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) and its branches. The role ensures accurate, timely and compliant internal and external reporting while shaping an efficient operating model that strengthens controls and data quality.

Key responsibilities

• Own and govern the accounting‑to‑reporting process, ensuring IFRS‑compliant outcomes and a robust period‑end close.
• Drive consistent application of Group accounting policies and provide technical advice on new products and emerging requirements.
• Oversee on‑shore and off‑shore accounting activities such as accruals, provisions, inter‑company transactions and manual journals.
• Ensure timely reconciliation of key accounts and resolve reconciling items with clear audit trails.
• Identify recurring posting breaks, lead root‑cause analysis and track remediation.
• Coach and develop a high‑performing team, fostering an inclusive culture and succession pipeline.
• Partner with senior management, Global Financial Reporting, Risk, Regulators and external auditors.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial accounting and reporting within a large, regulated institution.
• Proven leadership skills with ability to manage on‑shore/off‑shore teams.
• Strong stakeholder management across finance, risk, compliance and audit functions.
• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS and Group accounting policies.
• Expertise in period‑end close, account reconciliation and journal processing.
• Experience with financial reporting systems and data quality controls.
