Head of Science

About the role

The Head of Science will lead the science department at our school in Fujairah, shaping the teaching and learning experience for middle and secondary students. Reporting to the School Leadership Team, you will drive curriculum development, assessment practices and professional growth within the department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the department in developing and enhancing teaching and learning strategies.
• Set priorities and goals that align with the school’s mission and vision.
• Plan and maintain curriculum schemes of work, coordinating vertical and horizontal planning with colleagues.
• Develop and oversee assessment practices, including oral assessments, standardisation and moderation.
• Analyse examination and student performance data and report findings to the Middle and Secondary School Leadership Team.
• Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning in line with school policy.
• Identify and recommend professional development opportunities for department teachers.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of teaching experience, preferably in science.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field.
