Head of Social Studies

About the role

Universal American School in Dubai is seeking a Head of Social Studies to join the team in January 2027. The role combines leadership of the Social Studies department with curriculum development responsibilities, ensuring high‑quality, inquiry‑based learning aligned with US standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and inspire Social Studies teachers to deliver engaging, standards‑based lessons.
• Develop, review and implement the Social Studies curriculum across all year levels.
• Oversee assessment design and data analysis to inform instruction.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align Social Studies with the school’s overall academic vision.
• Support professional development and mentorship for department staff.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 month experience in teaching or curriculum leadership.
• Strong understanding of US curriculum frameworks, particularly New York State Standards.
• Proven ability to lead a department and drive continuous improvement.
