Head of Sport – Lead the Department at Yasmina British Academy

About the role

Aldar Education is seeking an outstanding Head of Sport for Yasmina British Academy, starting April 2027. The role leads the sport department, shaping strategic direction, curriculum delivery and staff performance in an international school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement department policies aligned with the school’s vision and high‑achievement standards.
• Monitor short, medium and long‑term plans, using data to identify and support under‑achieving students, including SEN, POD, G&T and EAL provision.
• Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all ability levels and oversee assessment, recording and reporting of student achievement.
• Lead and manage staff performance, conduct regular department meetings, and foster collaborative, high‑professional standards.
• Manage department resources, budgets and learning environments while maintaining health and safety compliance.
• Contribute to the school’s CAS programme, lead after‑school activities such as Model United Nations, and act as Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor for Year 12/13.
• Participate in staff duty rota, cover for absent colleagues, and invigilate examinations as required.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with certification in Educational Leadership.
• Minimum five years of secondary school administrative experience as Assistant/Associate Principal or Head of Division in an international school.
• Proven track record in curriculum development, instructional strategies and standards‑based assessment.
• Knowledge of I/GCSE, IB programmes and UAE Ministry of Education/ADEK regulations.
• Strong leadership, change management and collaborative skills, with a commitment to international education values.
