Head of Training - Air Navigation Services (ANS)

About the role

The Head of Training will lead the Serco IAL Limited Sharjah Branch Training Department, ensuring all training activities comply with GCAA, Serco and DCA Sharjah regulations. The role oversees Air Navigation Services (ANS) standards and On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) programmes for ATCOs, ATCAs and other ATS personnel, supporting both UAE nationals and expatriate staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and direct training requirements for all Air Traffic Control Officers, maintaining the Training and Competency Manual in line with GCAA rules.
• Schedule training, coordinate with Operations and Unit Scheduler, and track competency checks and licence renewals.
• Liaise with senior management to select OJT instructors and competency examiners, ensuring continuous performance monitoring.
• Oversee Emergency Continuation Training, licence endorsements, and annual Certificate of Competency renewals.
• Provide comprehensive briefings for newly appointed ATCOs and assign them to qualified OJT instructors.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in operational aviation and aviation training roles.
• Valid ATC Licence, Certificate of Competency and Class III Medical Certificate (where applicable).
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to CAR‑compliant working hours and rest‑break regulations.

Required skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of CARs and ICAO regulations related to Air Traffic Services.
• Expertise in training design, development, delivery and evaluation, including classroom, simulation and online environments.
• Strong understanding of Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS) and compliance requirements.
