Heat Treatment Technician

About the role

The Heat Treatment Technician will set up, operate and monitor heat‑treatment furnaces and related equipment, ensuring safe and efficient processing of a wide range of metal components. You will work closely with the foundry and production teams to deliver high‑quality treated parts.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and run heat‑treatment furnaces, induction hardening machines and associated equipment.
• Perform processes such as hardening, tempering, quenching, annealing, normalizing, stress relieving and PWHT.
• Monitor and record furnace temperature, heating rate, soaking time, cooling rate and quenching parameters.
• Select appropriate heat‑treatment cycles based on material type, grade and component specifications.
• Inspect treated components for distortion, cracking, oxidation or discoloration and coordinate corrective actions.
• Verify hardness against drawings or specifications using conventional or digital precision instruments.
• Maintain complete, traceable records of all heat‑treatment data and reports.
• Assist in foundry operations, including sand‑mold casting, die casting, mold preparation, pattern making, melting and pouring.

Required profile

• Experience with heat‑treatment of carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron and aluminium alloys.
• Ability to read technical drawings and understand material specifications.
• Attention to detail and strong record‑keeping habits.
• Willingness to work in a workshop environment and follow safety procedures.
