HR Assistant for International School in Dubai

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and organised HR Assistant to support the human resources function at one of our GEMS schools in Dubai. The role will involve assisting the HR Officer in daily HR operations, ensuring compliance with GEMS policies and UAE Labour Law, and contributing to a positive employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Support the HR Officer with day‑to‑day HR processes, maintaining consistency and legal compliance.
• Coordinate onboarding and induction for new staff, delivering a smooth joining experience.
• Maintain accurate employee records and assist with HRIS/ERP data entry and reporting.
• Assist in recruitment for non‑teaching positions, including advertising, shortlisting and interview scheduling.
• Respond to staff queries on attendance, leave, benefits and insurance.
• Help manage employee relations matters under guidance of the HR Officer.
• Contribute to performance management, employee engagement initiatives and HR audits.
• Prepare and maintain HR documentation, reports and employee records.
• Provide general administrative support to ensure effective delivery of HR services across the school.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• Minimum three years’ experience in a generalist HR or HR support role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong sense of confidentiality.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of UAE Labour Law and HR policies is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with HRIS or ERP platforms.
