HSE Engineer

About the role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an HSE Engineer to lead health, safety and environmental (HSE) activities on its Abu Dhabi projects. The role involves implementing the company’s HSE management system, ensuring compliance with project requirements and local legislation, and supporting both internal staff and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor AtkinsRéalis internal HSE procedures and project‑specific HSE requirements.
• Conduct daily site HSE tours, safety training, and weekly safety meetings with contractors.
• Issue and follow up on Safety Enforcement Notices, ensuring prompt closure with evidence of compliance.
• Review and comment on contractor HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements and site safety plans.
• Develop and maintain HSE documentation such as safety files, risk assessments and fire assessments.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, compile reports and maintain HSE registers.

Required profile

• Minimum HSE qualifications – NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Lead auditor training for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Professional membership with IIRSM or IOSH preferred.
• Proven experience supervising HSE on construction sites in the Middle East.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
