HSE Engineer (Site Supervision)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented HSE Engineer to supervise health, safety and environmental compliance on our Abu Dhabi site. The role ensures all activities meet UAE regulations and AECOM’s safety standards while protecting the workforce. You will work closely with project managers and contractors to embed safety best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor all site activities to ensure compliance with HSE regulations, UAE labor laws, and organizational safety standards.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, hazard identification, safety audits and inspections, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents and near‑misses, analyze root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Provide safety training, competency assessments and ensure workers understand and follow safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation, records and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and safety consultants, as needed.
• Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics to track progress and identify trends.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment on site.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of professional experience in HSE engineering or site safety supervision.
• Strong knowledge of UAE and GCC HSE regulations, labor laws and industry standards.
• Proven experience in risk assessments, hazard analyses, safety audits and incident investigations.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing safety management systems and procedures.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management standards (preferred).
