HSE Lead Specialist - Hospital

About the role

The HSE Lead Specialist will drive health, safety and environmental performance at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, ensuring compliance with UAE legislation, ADOSH‑SF and ISO 45001/14001 standards. The role provides on‑site leadership, manages contractor safety, handles incidents and promotes a strong safety culture across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain company HSE policies, procedures and programs at site level.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ADOSH‑SF and UAE regulatory requirements.
• Maintain HSE registers, risk assessments, inspection records and corrective‑action logs.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits and inspections; monitor and report HSE performance metrics.
• Provide visible site HSE leadership, monitor Permit‑to‑Work systems and safe work practices.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and engage the workforce in safety initiatives.
• Manage contractor HSE onboarding, review method statements, risk assessments, lifting plans and emergency arrangements.
• Lead incident and near‑miss investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.
• Deliver HSE inductions, awareness training and maintain training records.
• Supervise site HSE personnel and prepare reports, dashboards and audit documentation.
• Coordinate with operations teams, contractors, clients and authorities to ensure continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• ISO 45001 Lead/Internal Auditor certification.
• ISO 14001 certification.
• ADOSH registration (or equivalent).
• Incident investigation training (ICAM or similar).
• Minimum 8 years HSE experience in the UAE, including 2‑3 years in a hospital/healthcare environment.
• Proven experience in contractor safety management and live operational settings.
• Strong background in incident investigation, Permit‑to‑Work systems, audits and inspections.
• Experience implementing ISO‑aligned HSE management systems.
