HSE Officer

About the role

EDGE Group, an advanced technology group focused on defence and emerging technologies, is hiring an HSE Officer in Abu Dhabi. The role promotes a safe working environment by implementing health and safety policies, carrying out workplace inspections, identifying hazards and assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company procedures. It also includes educating employees on safe work practices and supporting the prevention of accidents, injuries and occupational illnesses.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine workplace and site safety inspections and monitor high-risk activities such as working at height, lifting, confined-space entry, excavation, hot work and electrical work.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and recommend corrective actions; review risk assessments, method statements, permits to work and other safety documentation.
• Ensure employees and contractors follow safety policies, procedures and regulations, and monitor the use of PPE.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions and awareness training, and maintain safety, inspection and training records.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, prepare incident reports and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
• Inspect emergency equipment, fire extinguishers, first-aid facilities, access routes and emergency exits, and take part in emergency drills.
• Report serious hazards immediately to management, take part in safety meetings and audits, and promote a safety culture.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of engineering and IMS experience; previous experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role is mandatory.
• Aerospace and defence experience is desirable.
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred.
• Recognized safety certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH or OSHA training is preferred.
• English proficiency is required.
