Hydrographic Data Specialist – HPD & ENC

About the role

The Data Specialist for the Hydrographic Production Database (HPD) and Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) is responsible for compiling, producing, maintaining and managing hydrographic data to support safe navigation and marine data governance.

Key responsibilities

• Process, validate and integrate hydrographic survey data into HPD and ENC products in line with IHO standards and organisational procedures.
• Update and maintain marine geospatial databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency and availability of navigational data.
• Support the compilation, quality control and submission of ENC updates to authorities and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with hydrographic survey teams and marine operations to incorporate survey results promptly.
• Manage charting workflows, version control and data dissemination to internal and external users.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Cartography, Hydrographic Surveying, GIS, Geography, Marine Surveying or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in Marine GIS, ENC/HPD production and hydrographic data processing.
• Strong command of English communication, both written and verbal.
• Good knowledge of maritime terminology and domain.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with CARIS BathyDataBase and SevenCs ENC Composer.
• Proficiency with ENC production standards (IHO S‑57, S‑101) and S‑100 compliance.
• Expertise in GIS analysis, spatial database management and data validation.
• Understanding of hydrographic survey data formats and charting workflows.
