Interior Designer Expert - Rail Design

About the role

The Interior Designer Expert – Rail Design will support architectural design review, coordination and site verification for rail and related infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all interior architectural elements meet RTA standards, sustainability goals, accessibility and safety regulations from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Review and present design narratives, reports and presentations for rail projects.
• Lead, assist and verify interior designs across stations, ancillary buildings, façades and public areas.
• Advise on latest design trends, new materials and finishes to enrich passenger‑focused solutions.
• Integrate value engineering, material optimisation and constructability into design packages.
• Participate in all project phases – initiation, RFP, tender, evaluation and award.
• Conduct detailed architectural reviews, validate consultant submissions and ensure compliance with RTA and international codes.
• Manage inspections, testing and hand‑over of retail fit‑outs and station interiors.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of interior design for metro stations and public transport facilities.
• Familiarity with sustainability principles, accessibility standards and fire‑life‑safety (FLS) regulations.
• Experience in material and finish selection based on durability, fire resistance and maintenance requirements.
• Ability to perform site inspections and produce technical inspection reports.
