IT Cloud Operations Engineering Specialist

About the role

Geotab is seeking an IT Cloud Operations Engineering Specialist to support and improve its high‑transaction, globally distributed cloud infrastructure that powers the company’s SaaS solution. The role focuses on reliable operations, automation, security, performance, scalability and cost efficiency, leveraging AI‑enabled tools for monitoring and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance cloud infrastructure through server operations, lifecycle management and automation.
• Deploy scheduled and emergency patches/upgrades while minimizing service disruption.
• Provision, configure and scale cloud servers for performance and resilience.
• Monitor high‑availability environments and data flows using AI‑powered observability.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation, respond to incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Develop dashboards, reports, procedures and automated workflows to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Technical Services, Operations, security, database and customer support teams to resolve incidents and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Highly organized, analytical self‑starter with strong written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable working in a flat organization, managing multiple priorities and engaging with all levels.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Operating systems: Linux and Windows server environments.
• Scripting/automation: Bash, PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Ansible, Chef.
• Networking: IP networking, firewalls, load balancing.
• Database administration: MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, BigQuery.
• CI/CD, log collection, GitHub/GitLab, AIOps, AI/ML platforms, generative AI tools.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., GCP or AWS) are a plus.
