Junior Accountant – Maritime & Shipping Finance

About the role

A growing organization in the maritime and shipping industry is looking for a Junior Accountant to join its finance team in Dubai. This full‑time, office‑based role offers accounting professionals with 1–2 years of experience the chance to develop their careers in an international maritime environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting transactions using Xero.
• Support Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities.
• Process invoices, payments, expenses, and financial documentation.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly financial reporting and closing activities.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documents.
• Support UAE VAT compliance and audit‑related tasks.
• Prepare financial reports and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.
• Assist with accounting activities related to maritime and shipping operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in maritime, shipping, logistics or marine services.
• Hands‑on experience using Xero.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Microsoft 365).
• Good understanding of accounting principles, AP/AR and reconciliations.
• Knowledge of UAE VAT regulations is an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication in English.
