Junior Conservator Architectural Finishes

About the role

STRABAG is seeking a Junior Conservator specialized in architectural finishes to join its heritage projects in Abu Dhabi. You will work under senior conservators to protect and restore historic materials while ensuring compliance with recognised conservation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out conservation, repair, and restoration of architectural finishes in line with approved methodologies and project specifications.
• Assess condition of materials such as timber, glass, stone, terrazzo, mosaics, tiles, wallpapers, stucco and decorative finishes.
• Assist with preventive conservation activities, including documentation, storage, handling and protection of finishes.
• Prepare treatment records, condition assessments, photographic documentation and detailed conservation reports.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and multidisciplinary project teams throughout the delivery of works.
• Ensure all interventions adhere to recognised conservation principles and quality requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Conservation, Architectural Conservation, Fine Arts, Archaeology, Heritage Conservation or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in architectural conservation, restoration or repair.
• Experience with heritage buildings, museums or architecturally significant structures is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of material deterioration, repair techniques and conservation documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
