Junior Legal Counsel – Banking & Finance

About the role
The Junior Legal Counsel will join the Legal Department to provide proactive advisory support for banking and finance transactions across the organization. The role focuses on minimizing legal risk while enabling product development and business initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with the legal team and internal stakeholders on UAE banking transactions, ensuring compliance and low legal risk.
- Assist the Head of Advisory, Legal on syndications, derivatives, and structured finance frameworks.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements such as software licensing, services, procurement, subscription and payment arrangements.
- Prepare and negotiate lending and security documentation, including credit facilities, term loans, assignments, pledges and movable security agreements.
- Apply knowledge of Islamic finance structures (Ijara, Murabaha) to relevant documentation.
- Identify and communicate legal and regulatory risks early, supporting mitigation strategies.
- Promote collaboration across legal, business and functional teams to ensure smooth execution of mandates.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent with admission to practice in any jurisdiction.
- Common Law qualification preferred.
- 2–5 years post‑qualification experience in banking and finance, covering both private practice and in‑house roles.
- Strong knowledge of UAE corporate, commercial, financing and security law.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic.
