Junior Legal Counsel

About the role

Under the direction of the General Counsel, the Junior Legal Counsel advises all CPX business units on technology transactions, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters and intellectual property. The role also involves responding quickly to requests for legal advice and negotiating agreements with clients and vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent advice and support on technology transactions, labour and employment matters, regulatory and compliance issues and intellectual property rights.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including non-disclosure agreements and terms and conditions, and help revise client and vendor agreements.
• Support the General Counsel in rolling out and implementing the compliance program, and draft policies on labour law, supplier code of conduct, trade compliance and data privacy and security.
• Audit compliance with regulatory requirements and customer/partner procedures, deliver training on the policies, and advise cross-functional teams on risk management and policy enforcement.
• Assist with internal and external investigations, inquiries and disputes, resolve issues in existing commercial relationships, and handle pre-litigation disputes.
• Maintain the compliance tracking system and risk register.

Required profile

• 1-3 years of post-qualification experience handling complex commercial, M&A, private equity and international technology contracts; articling or foundational experience at a leading law firm or corporate legal department is preferred.
• Law degree from a recognized university and admission as an attorney, barrister and/or solicitor in Australia, Canada, Europe, Ireland, the UK or the US.
• Bilingualism (Arabic/English) is preferred but not essential.
• An MBA, LLM and CIPP certification is ideal but not required.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage several files at once under pressure.
• Time management and the capacity to fit a flexible schedule occasionally.
