Junior Mechanical Engineer – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

Worley is a global energy, chemicals and resources consultancy headquartered in Australia, delivering projects across the full asset lifecycle. The Junior Mechanical Engineer will support mechanical engineering activities for oil & gas projects in Abu Dhabi, working under senior engineers through design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.

Key responsibilities

• Support engineering of static and rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks and packaged units.
• Prepare and review equipment datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions and engineering calculations.
• Evaluate vendor proposals, review drawings, datasheets and calculations, and follow up on comments.
• Assist in reviewing P&IDs, equipment layouts, mechanical drawings and equipment interfaces.
• Coordinate with process, piping, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, HSE, procurement and construction disciplines.
• Participate in design, 3D model, constructability and technical coordination meetings.
• Support resolution of technical queries during engineering, fabrication, construction and commissioning.
• Monitor equipment manufacturing, inspection, testing, delivery, installation and preservation requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 3+ years experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
• At least 2 years of experience working in the GCC region.

Required skills

• Mechanical design and equipment selection.
• Equipment datasheet preparation and technical specification writing.
• Engineering calculations for static and rotating equipment.
• P&ID and mechanical drawing review.
• Compliance with API and ASME standards.
