Junior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Junior Quantity Surveyor supports the Quantity Surveying team, helping senior team members with cost estimation, measurement, contract administration and project reporting in line with Land Sterling standards. The role also ensures compliance with industry best practice and applicable local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications using standard measurement methods such as POMI and NRM, and assist in preparing Bills of Quantities and cost breakdowns.
• Support cost estimates, cost plans and budget summaries, collect market rates for materials, labour and equipment, and help maintain cost databases.
• Help compile tender documentation, record tender submissions and prepare preliminary bid comparison sheets.
• Assist in reviewing contractor payment applications, preparing interim payment certificates, and tracking variations, claims and change orders.
• Maintain project files, prepare draft reports, spreadsheets and presentations, and ensure cost records are complete for audit.
• Coordinate with design teams, project managers and site engineers, attend meetings when required and take minutes.
• Learn contract forms such as FIDIC and cost management procedures through supervision, training and CPDs.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (Civil / MEP).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field.
• Proven experience in tendering and Design & Build environments.
• Extensive understanding of building pathology, construction technology and regulatory requirements.
