Junior Railway System Engineer

About the role

RINA Consulting is seeking a Junior Railway System Engineer to join its Electronics and System Engineering Division in Abu Dhabi. The role supports the design, integration and verification of railway systems on national and international projects, reporting to senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in defining system and subsystem requirements and developing technical specifications.
• Support integration activities across signaling, rolling stock and infrastructure, including interface management.
• Participate in performance simulations, capacity and reliability assessments, and propose optimisation opportunities.
• Help prepare verification and validation plans, conduct testing and document results according to EN 50126/8/9 standards.
• Contribute to digitalisation efforts such as IoT data collection, predictive maintenance and Digital Twin concepts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 1‑2 years of experience with railway systems and basic knowledge of rolling stock, signaling, electrification and infrastructure.
• Understanding of systems‑engineering fundamentals and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ETCS, CBTC and interlocking principles.
• Familiarity with traction power supply concepts (25 kV AC, 3 kV DC, 750 V DC).
• Experience with tools such as DOORS, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB/Simulink.
• Basic skills in IoT, data analytics and remote monitoring.
• Awareness of Digital Twin and smart signalling technologies.
• Good command of English, both spoken and written.
