Junior Research Scientist – Computer Science

About the role

The SANAD lab at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Junior Research Scientist to work with Dr. Sarah Nadi in the Division of Science (Computer Science). The role focuses on programming languages and software engineering research, development of open‑source tools, and publication of research findings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and collect relevant data for research projects.
• Design, implement, and evaluate software tools and static analysis techniques.
• Run experiments, analyze results, and contribute to research papers.
• Collaborate with lab members and support ongoing projects such as API misuse detection and energy consumption measurement.
• Assist in preparing conference and journal submissions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s with strong software‑engineering coursework) and less than 5 years of research experience.
• Excellent programming abilities and strong software‑engineering practices, including version control, continuous integration, and testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven teamwork capability.
• Preferred: prior software‑engineering research experience, familiarity with generative AI or Large Language Models, and any previous paper submissions or publications.
