Junior Research Scientist – Edge AI & Embodied AI

About the role

The eBRAIN Lab in the Division of Engineering at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a Junior Research Scientist with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and less than five years of experience. The role focuses on R&D of next‑generation Edge‑AI and Embodied‑AI systems, including tiny‑LLMs, tiny‑VLMs, Agentic‑AI, and robust generative AI.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, optimise, prototype and test innovative software and hardware solutions for Edge‑AI, Embodied‑AI and Agentic‑AI systems.
• Lead full‑system prototyping, generate IP, file patents and contribute to high‑quality publications.
• Build TRL‑4/5 prototypes and continuously improve engineered solutions for real‑world applications.
• Collaborate with PhD‑level scientists, research engineers and students in a multidisciplinary environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, communication and writing abilities with high motivation for world‑class research.
• Hands‑on experience in practical AI/ML system development and system‑level optimisation.
• Industrial experience or publications in top ML venues are highly preferred.
