Junior Research Scientist – Embodied AI & Robotics Lab

About the role

The Embodied AI and Robotics (AIR) Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a Junior Research Scientist to translate AI, robotics and assistive‑technology research into practical prototypes and deployable solutions. The role focuses on accessibility, inclusive mobility and smart urban environments, bridging fundamental research and real‑world applications.

Key responsibilities

• Convert research concepts and experimental systems into functional, user‑oriented prototypes.
• Design, develop, integrate, test and evaluate AI‑ and robotics‑based technologies.
• Conduct literature reviews and technology landscape analyses to identify application opportunities.
• Collect, process and analyse quantitative and qualitative data from user studies and field evaluations.
• Prepare technical documentation, research reports, presentations and project proposals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in any field.
• Less than five years of professional experience, with demonstrated technical, research or analytical work.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and documentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
• Interest in technology translation, responsible innovation and inclusive design.
