Junior Sous Chef - Pastry

About the role

The Westin Dubai Marina is seeking a motivated Junior Sous Chef – Pastry to join its culinary team. This entry‑level position supports the Pastry Sous Chef in delivering high‑quality desserts and baked goods for hotel guests and events.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients – portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix according to recipes.
• Cook and bake foods, including cold preparations, while adhering to quality, presentation and safety standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test foods for doneness and monitor quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve portions, and maintain a clean, disinfected kitchen environment.
• Check and record appliance and food temperatures.
• Follow all company safety, security and hygiene policies; report any incidents or maintenance needs.
• Maintain a professional appearance and support positive team dynamics.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year related culinary experience, preferably in pastry.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific licenses or certifications mandated.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food preparation and portioning.
• Measuring and mixing ingredients accurately.
• Food safety and hygiene practices.
