Junior Sous Chef – Pastry

About the role

The Junior Sous Chef – Pastry supports the pastry kitchen at Westin Dubai by preparing ingredients, cooking and assembling pastries, and ensuring food quality and safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients, wash, peel, weigh, and measure produce and pantry items.
• Cook and assemble cold and hot pastry items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Monitor food quality throughout preparation and adjust as needed.
• Set up and break down work stations, maintain cleanliness, and disinfect tools and equipment.
• Check and record temperatures of appliances and food to ensure safety compliance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related pastry or kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
• Food preparation and cooking techniques for pastries.
• Accurate measuring, weighing, and mixing of ingredients.
• Maintaining kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards.
