Lab Manager - Gemology

About the role

An experienced professional is sought to lead the gemological laboratory operations within the IT Services sector. The role oversees daily laboratory functions, ensuring high standards of quality control and operational efficiency, and maintains the integrity of gemological assessments while fostering collaboration across diverse teams.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all laboratory activities in line with established quality standards and protocols.
• Lead, mentor and manage a cross-cultural team, promoting effective communication and professional development.
• Implement and monitor operational efficiency initiatives to streamline processes and boost productivity.
• Oversee quality control measures so that all gemological evaluations meet rigorous industry benchmarks.
• Facilitate cross-cultural coordination to support a diverse workforce and global operational needs.
• Maintain strict compliance with internal and external standards on laboratory safety and procedures.

Required profile

• 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in laboratory management or a related field.
• Proven expertise in team management and leadership of diverse, cross-cultural groups.
• Strong English communication skills suited to professional and technical environments.
• Track record of improving operational efficiency in technical or scientific operations.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience implementing Quality Control and Standards in a laboratory setting.
• Specific experience with GIA (Gemological Institute of America) protocols and standards.
