Lab Technician – Medical Teaching Laboratories

About the role

We are seeking a Lab Technician to support teaching laboratories within the anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and pathology departments. The role involves maintaining a safe, organized environment for student practicals and assisting senior staff with laboratory preparations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with reagent preparation and equipment setup for experiments.
• Support a variety of teaching laboratory activities across biomedical disciplines.
• Clean, maintain and arrange student microscopes and microscope slides between sessions.
• Maintain laboratory specimens, organs, slides, models, glassware and equipment supplies.
• Dispose of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials according to safety protocols.
• Perform daily maintenance of the distilled water unit, dishwasher and icemaker.
• Care for organs and specimens in the museum collection.
• Transfer and maintain animals from the animal house for practical sessions.
• Monitor inventory levels and organise laboratory supplies.
• Communicate effectively with technicians, faculty and students regarding laboratory affairs.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Higher Diploma in a relevant scientific field.
• 1–3 years of experience in a biomedical laboratory setting.
• Reliable, punctual and well‑organized personality.
• Good English communication and basic computer skills.

• Laboratory techniques across anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and pathology.
• Reagent preparation and equipment calibration.
• Microscope operation, cleaning and slide handling.
• Specimen and organ preservation.
