Laboratory Specialist – Electrical & Communication Engineering

About the role

The Department of Electrical and Communication Engineering at United Arab Emirates University seeks a Laboratory Specialist to prepare lab materials, deliver instruction, and support continuous improvement of lab courses.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare laboratories for operation, supervise implementation of lab requirements, budgeting, procurement, and recruitment.
• Develop work plans for lab projects, coordinate budgets with deans and lab managers, and supervise engineering work teams.
• Collaborate with equipment suppliers to manage installation, space allocation, and resource planning.
• Work with faculty and lab instructors to develop experiment materials and provide timely feedback.
• Supervise students, assist senior design projects, and perform other service duties as assigned by the department head.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and/or Communication Engineering with focus on electronics, embedded systems, and AI.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in academia or industry.
• Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronics and communication equipment and devices.
• Experience using design software such as Multisim, Cadence, AWR, and LabVIEW.
• Skills in circuit design, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of lab equipment.
