About the role
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to provide maternity cover from August 2026 at our school in Dubai. The role supports the Science department by ensuring labs are well‑maintained, safe, and ready for practical lessons.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and update registers of lab equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
- Prepare experiments and practical sessions in coordination with the Head of Science and teachers.
- Keep laboratories organised, clean, and securely locked when not in use.
- Report any breakage or damage of equipment to the Head of Science.
- Implement safety procedures and ensure compliance with GEMS policies.
- Prepare annual inventories of consumables, glassware, and equipment.
- Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Degree in Science.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in a similar laboratory support role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff and students.
- Attention to detail, organisational ability, and a collaborative team mindset.
