Land Surveyor – Construction & Mapping

About the role

Plans, organizes, and directs the work of survey parties to capture precise location, elevation, and contour data for construction, mapping, land division, and other engineering purposes. The role involves researching existing survey records, developing new data from photogrammetric sources, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of all field measurements.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret contract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, and health‑and‑safety requirements.
• Perform survey work under the guidance of the Resident Engineer, establishing primary horizontal and vertical control points.
• Record measurements, rod readings, and calculations accurately in field books and verify data integrity.
• Coordinate with the contractor’s surveyor on priorities, schedules, and traverse closures.
• Maintain and calibrate survey equipment, conduct regular checks, and keep detailed notes and sketches.
• Prepare and supervise the production of charts, maps, legal descriptions, and other survey documentation.
