Lead Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical/Piping) – Offshore, Platforms & Subsea Cable

About the role

The Lead Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical/Piping) will plan, coordinate and lead all mechanical and piping commissioning activities for offshore and onshore oil & gas projects, ensuring safe and efficient handover from construction to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement commissioning strategies, execution plans, procedures and schedules.
• Lead pre‑commissioning activities such as mechanical completion verification, flushing, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, and punch‑list management.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary commissioning for process, utility, wellhead, platform, subsea tie‑in, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors and related systems.
• Manage commissioning engineers, supervisors, technicians and contractor personnel to meet project milestones safely.
• Ensure HSE compliance, conduct risk assessments, SIMOPS reviews and permit‑to‑work processes.
• Oversee mechanical completion, certification, turnover documentation and final acceptance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 18‑22 years of relevant experience in mechanical and piping commissioning for oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG or offshore EPC/EPCI projects.
• Minimum 5 years in a lead or senior commissioning role.
• Previous experience with ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy or similar major operators is preferred.

Required skills

• Mechanical and piping commissioning expertise.
• Hydrostatic, pneumatic and leak testing.
• BOSIET/HUET certification for offshore work.
• NEBOSH or equivalent HSE certification.
• PMP certification (preferred).
• Knowledge of wellhead towers (WHTs), jackets, bridges and subsea tie‑in supports.
