Lead Computational Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Computational Design Engineer to drive the creation and implementation of advanced computational design tools across NMDC Dredging & Marine’s engineering projects. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will bridge engineering design and cutting‑edge technology to improve efficiency and innovation in the maritime sector.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering leadership to identify and develop computational design tools that support all engineering disciplines.
• Lead the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of parametric models, libraries and automation workflows.
• Research, evaluate and recommend technology solutions, integrating them with BIM platforms such as Tekla and Revit.
• Apply data analysis, simulation and modelling techniques to inform design decisions and optimise project outcomes.
• Communicate design concepts and results to clients and stakeholders and deliver training programs to up‑skill the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Computational Design, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience delivering computational design, digital engineering and automation solutions.
• Proven ability to develop reusable libraries and parametric scripts for complex engineering structures.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Rhinoceros 3D (Rhino) and Grasshopper.
• Parametric modelling and BIM platforms (Tekla, Revit).
• Programming in C# and Python, object‑oriented design.
• Version control systems, continuous integration (CI) and software testing.
• Data analysis, simulation and modelling techniques.
