Lead Electrical Engineer

About the role

This role serves as the Technical Advisor and Subject Matter Expert on electrical systems for the entire plant, supporting operations and maintenance. The Lead Engineer will design, simulate and oversee electrical projects, ensuring compliance with industry codes and delivering reliable power solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of capital projects related to electrical systems, including FEED, detailed engineering and PMC packages.
• Manage design, installation, pre‑commissioning and commissioning of HV/LV equipment, substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS, battery chargers and cables.
• Perform equipment sizing calculations, relay coordination, protection studies and cathodic protection design.
• Prepare scopes of work, purchase requisitions, evaluate consultants/contractors and supervise on‑site execution.
• Support the maintenance department with overhauling, preventive maintenance scopes and root‑cause analysis of recurring electrical issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10–12 years of progressive experience in oil, gas or petrochemical environments.
• Proven project management experience in multidisciplinary settings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ETAP and EDSA electrical design software.
• Equipment sizing and load analysis for transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, UPS and cables.
• Relay coordination and protection calculations, including IEC 61850 compliant relays.
• Cathodic protection system design and related calculations.
