Lead English Teacher – Al Maharat Campus

About the role

The Lead English Teacher will head the strategic development and daily management of the English department across all key stages (EYFS to KS5) in an all‑through school setting. This role ensures high standards of teaching and learning, fosters a love of English, and drives academic excellence throughout the school.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dynamic leadership for the English department across EYFS to KS5.
• Develop and implement a strategic vision and improvement plan aligned with the school’s development plan.
• Line‑manage teachers and teaching assistants, overseeing performance management, CPD and mentoring.
• Design and oversee a progressive English curriculum ensuring clear progression and coverage.
• Monitor teaching quality through lesson observations, learning walks and data‑driven interventions.
• Collaborate with other subject leaders and senior leadership to support whole‑school priorities.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualifications – Bachelor’s degree plus PGDE/PGCE or Master’s degree.
• Minimum four years of teaching experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to improve pupil outcomes using assessment data.
• Experience supporting SEND and EAL learners.
