Lead I&C Engineer – SmartPlant Instrumentation & Smart 3D

About the role

Rejlers Abu Dhabi is seeking a Lead I&C Engineer to head the Instrumentation & Control discipline on digitisation projects, using SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and Smart 3D (SP3D). You will guide a team of engineers and designers, ensuring safe, on‑time, and high‑quality delivery for local ADNOC and international projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with project managers, clients, vendors and OEMs; attend client meetings and present discipline status.
• Manage interfaces with process, electrical, piping, mechanical, civil‑structural and telecom disciplines, performing inter‑discipline checks.
• Implement QA/QC procedures, conduct internal audits and review deliverables against client standards.
• Lead SPI and SP3D instrument design teams, oversee model reviews, clash management and drawing extraction.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical or Control Engineering (Master’s a plus).
• Minimum 15 years I&C experience in oil & gas/petrochemical EPC or consultancy, with at least 5 years as Lead I&C Engineer.
• Proven experience on ADNOC projects and familiarity with AGPS/DGS and ADNOC SmartPlant standards.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills; fluent English.

Required skills

• Hands‑on SPI (≥8 years) and SP3D (≥5 years) instrumentation modelling.
• Knowledge of DCS, ESD/SIS, F&G, PLC systems and IEC 61511 functional safety.
• Experience with SPI modules (Instrument Index, Specifications, Process Data, Wiring, Loop Drawings, Hook‑ups, Browser, Administration) and InfoMaker customisation.
• Proficiency in SPPID, SPEL, SPF integration, model reviews (SmartPlant Review/Navisworks) and clash management.
• Familiarity with MSSQL/Oracle queries and VB.NET or similar automation tools.
