Lead Planning Engineer

About the role

The Lead Planning Engineer is a senior leadership position within Etihad Airways' Short‑Term Planning & Control team. Reporting to the SM Short‑Term Planning & Control, the role oversees maintenance planning for the Airbus or Boeing fleet, ensuring airworthiness and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with CAMO Ops Planning & Control to produce accurate, real‑time maintenance schedules, forecasts and daily plans.
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of fleet‑planning engineers, driving continuous improvement and best‑practice adoption.
• Oversee detailed planning of all maintenance activities below the “C” Check level, including A‑Check, line planning and 24‑month checks.
• Synchronise maintenance plans with operational schedules and strategic priorities, monitoring forecasting accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 7‑10 years of aviation maintenance planning experience, with proven leadership or team‑management experience.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, especially maintenance and airworthiness planning.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and data‑driven decision‑making abilities.

Required skills

• Experience with maintenance forecasting tools and fleet‑management software.
• In‑depth understanding of aviation maintenance regulations and airworthiness requirements.
