Lead Project Engineer - Customer Project Engineering

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for a Control Systems Lead Project Engineer in its Customer Project Engineering team. The engineer acts as the single point of contact for engineering on the project, developing knowledge of electrical and mechanical control systems for turbines, generators, compressors and plant controls. The role coordinates technology resources, works alongside experienced engineers to design and implement custom solutions, and supports commissioning at domestic and international customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for retrofit control systems under the project manager's overall responsibility, and be accountable for deliverables, customer CTQ compliance, schedule and team performance.
• Analyse, design, test and troubleshoot control systems using electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
• Lead the project team to meet KPIs and milestones, own the engineering budget and milestone schedules, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review contract documentation and customer specifications, co-responsible for technical review and responses, and support sales in interpreting requirements for proposals and tables of compliance.
• Receive mentoring from Senior Project Engineers, help design interfaces to existing turbine control equipment, and co-lead technical design reviews with documented deliverables.
• Support customer meetings, factory acceptance testing and installation and commissioning, and frequently interact with customers and suppliers.
• Travel domestically and internationally may be required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, or a Master's degree in a STEM field (which allows 6 years of experience instead of 8).
• At least 8 years of experience, including a detailed understanding of power applications with turbine-generator control systems for gas and steam turbines and their excitation controls.
• Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a matrix management environment.

• Desired: ALSTOM steam turbine and compressor controls, GE MarkV, MarkVI, MarkVIe and EX2100e systems, GE HMIs, networking and cyber solutions, ControlST software, and protocols such as MODBUS, OPC and IEC.
