Lead Weight Control Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Weight Control Engineer to join Technip Energies in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the Head of Department, the engineer will oversee weight control reporting for offshore oil and gas projects from concept through EPC and operational phases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement project weight control procedures and weight breakdown structures.
• Establish weight contingency philosophy and monitor weight growth throughout all project phases.
• Evaluate centre of gravity (CoG) for items and define CoG envelopes for design‑sensitive structures.
• Coordinate with all disciplines to collect, review and validate weight and CoG data.
• Prepare and issue weight control reports, status updates, growth registers and forecasts.
• Support weight optimisation initiatives and interface with marine warranty surveyors on weight‑related requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s optional).
• Minimum 15 years experience in offshore oil & gas projects, with at least 10 years dedicated to weight control reporting.
• Proven experience managing weight budgets for fixed offshore platform jackets, topsides, bridges, flare structures and modules.
• Experience with brownfield projects and multidisciplinary coordination (structural, piping, mechanical, E&I, HVAC, architectural).
