Learning Design Specialist

About the role

The Learning Design Specialist will partner with faculty and subject‑matter experts to create engaging, evidence‑based courses for higher education. This role focuses on applying instructional design models, fostering inclusive teaching practices, and supporting continuous improvement of learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty to design and develop courses using ADDIE, SAM, Backward Design and other models.
• Deliver workshops, seminars and short courses on pedagogy, learning theories, assessment strategies, and educational technologies.
• Provide individual coaching and consultations to faculty on teaching practices and course development.
• Review and enhance existing courses for alignment with accreditation standards and inclusive teaching principles.
• Collect and analyze feedback from faculty and students to drive continuous improvement.
• Stay current with emerging instructional design trends and pilot innovative approaches.
• Contribute to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning through presentations and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with librarians, multimedia specialists and IT teams to create integrated learning experiences.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of learning design and faculty development experience in higher education.
• Experience designing and facilitating professional development sessions in both Arabic and English.
• Strong knowledge of instructional design models, adult learning principles and pedagogical frameworks.
• Familiarity with quality assurance frameworks such as Quality Matters.
• Experience designing competency‑based or experiential learning programs.
