Legal Counsel

About the role

The Legal Counsel ensures that the company adheres to all legal requirements, providing expert legal advice, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards. This role plays a critical part in protecting the organization from legal exposure and maintaining regulatory integrity across operations, particularly in the MENA region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to employees, management, and the board on a wide range of issues, and draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
• Ensure company transactions comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, while monitoring legal and regulatory developments.
• Advise on corporate governance matters, prepare legal reports, and develop internal governance policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks, apply proactive risk‑management strategies, and advise management on potential issues before they arise.
• Manage and coordinate litigation and dispute resolution across the MENA region, evaluate actions, engage external counsel, and oversee the legal budget.
• Oversee intellectual property registration and protection, product registration in the UAE and other MENA countries, and obtain required business licenses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law with a minimum of 5 years of work and litigation experience.
• Licensed lawyer or legal practitioner with credentials recognized in a MENA country.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, procedures, and local legal systems in the Middle East.
• High professional ethics, integrity, and responsibility, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel internationally, manage legal teams and external counsel, and familiarity with international law and regulations.
