Legal Counsel

About the role

SABIS, a global education network present in 21 countries, is looking for a Legal Counsel in Dubai to act as its primary local legal liaison. The role coordinates legal advice, documentation, negotiations, regulatory matters, risk assessments, transactions and contracts with the Legal Department at Headquarters, ensures they comply with applicable laws and internal policies, and supports Regional Operations Directors on jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, manage and advise on legal and compliance matters, escalating complex issues to Headquarters for guidance and approval
• Draft and review contracts and legal documents, including routine operational documents and complex commercial agreements
• Administer the full contract lifecycle and support approved contract templates, policies and procedures
• Perform company secretarial functions such as meeting minutes and record keeping
• Conduct legal research, coordinate legal matters across jurisdictions and monitor legislative and regulatory developments
• Provide legal and administrative support to operational teams, maintain legal records and document repositories
• Identify and report legal risks and assist with incorporation, restructuring and maintenance of local, regional and international entities
• Liaise with regulators, governmental authorities and external counsel

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.); a Master's degree in law is a plus
• At least 6-7 years as an in-house legal consultant in a corporate setting
• Experience across multiple jurisdictions is an advantage
• English and Arabic; French is a plus
