Legal Counsel – Maritime Solutions

About the role

Based at DP World Maritime Solutions' corporate office in Dubai and reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, the Legal Counsel provides comprehensive legal support across all business activities. The focus is on transactional shipping matters such as charter parties, vessel acquisitions, financing, regulatory compliance and commercial contract management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support for offshore, MCV/Cargo and Port Services chartering activities, including cross‑charters, bareboat, time and voyage charters, and heavy‑lift contracts.
• Prepare, review and negotiate charter party contracts, vessel acquisition and disposal agreements, and related tax and insurance matters.
• Contribute legal material to tenders and bid proposals, drafting and reviewing NDAs, LOIs and MOUs.
• Draft and review shipbuilding contracts and financial/loan agreements, ensuring compliance with loan covenants.
• Assist in the preparation and review of joint‑venture, collaboration and alliance agreements.
• Support general contracts covering IT, procurement and labour matters.
• Handle maritime insurance claims in coordination with brokers and underwriters.
• Administer the legal framework and compliance requirements to ensure business continuity and appropriate corporate structure.
• Identify tax implications of business activities and implement structures in line with transfer‑pricing principles.
• Evaluate the need for external legal advice and prepare briefing materials for external counsel.

Required profile

• Qualified legal professional with experience in transactional shipping and maritime law.
• Based in Dubai and able to work on‑site at the corporate office.
• Ability to advise on vessel ownership, operation and regulatory compliance.
