Machinist (Lathe Operator)

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group focused on defence and emerging technologies, is hiring a Machinist (Lathe Operator) in Abu Dhabi. The main task is to operate lathe and milling machines and carry out machining operations such as turning, boring, threading and facing.

Key responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and milling machines to cut and shape metal parts and support production demand
• Maintain safety standards by following OSHA rules and regulations and safety procedures to minimise hazards
• Monitor machine performance to make sure equipment runs normally
• Prepare materials for use on machinery by cutting, shaping and drilling them
• Install new parts and components in machinery where needed
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep machinery running smoothly
• Communicate with other workers to coordinate workflow

Required profile

• ITI in metal machining or lathe operation training at any institute
• Preferred: 3 years of hands-on experience and proven experience with a lathe machine
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
• Good understanding of mathematics and calculations
• English proficiency is required for all roles

Required skills

• Familiarity with general lathe and milling operations and mechanical skills
• Reading of engineering drawings and specifications
