About the role
The Manager, Research Contracts oversees the negotiation, review and administration of research‑related agreements, ensuring compliance with university policies, legal requirements and funding agency regulations. This role supports researchers in securing and managing research funding while safeguarding institutional interests.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and finalize various research agreements, including sponsored and collaboration agreements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as principal investigators, legal counsel, post‑award teams, technology transfer offices and finance.
- Maintain a database of executed and pending agreements and ensure timely follow‑up on approvals and compliance.
- Provide guidance to research directors and investigators on contract terms, IP ownership and post‑award policies.
- Develop and implement best‑practice templates and processes to streamline contract management.
- Supervise and mentor team members, conduct performance appraisals and recommend training.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline.
- 8–12 years of experience in research contract negotiation, administration or related legal/contract management roles.
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior management, funding agencies and industry partners.
- Strong understanding of institutional policies, legal compliance and intellectual‑property considerations.
