Manager - Shari’a Assessment & Testing

About the role

The Manager – Shari’a Assessment & Testing will ensure Shari’a compliance across the ADIB Group by continuously monitoring business activities and aligning them with the Higher Shari’a Authority, the Internal Shari’a Supervisory Committee and Central Bank regulations. The role supports the Senior Manager in maintaining and enhancing compliance frameworks and oversees the annual Shari’a assessment plan.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Senior Manager in maintaining and enhancing Shari’a compliance across the group.
• Monitor compliance with HSA, ISSC resolutions and Central Bank requirements.
• Ensure the Annual Shari’a Assessment and Testing Plan covers all critical compliance areas.
• Conduct detailed Shari’a monitoring and assurance reviews across business units using a risk‑based methodology and the GRC platform.
• Assess Shari’a non‑compliance risks, coordinate with business units and operational risk teams, and develop effective controls.
• Prepare and present comprehensive review reports to management and relevant committees.
• Supervise the implementation of action plans and track progress on compliance issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shari’a/Islamic banking or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in Shari’a compliance, consultation or audit within Islamic banking.
• AAOIFI CSAA and/or CIPA certifications (or equivalent).
• Expert knowledge of AAOIFI Shari’a standards, Islamic commercial jurisprudence and Islamic banking products.
• Strong legal and compliance background with ability to balance regulatory requirements and business needs.
• Fluent in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• AAOIFI CSAA certification.
• CIPA certification.
• Expertise in AAOIFI Shari’a standards.
• In‑depth knowledge of Islamic banking products and operations.
• Proficiency with Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) platforms.
• Arabic and English language proficiency.
