Managing Director - Microfinance Operations Across Africa

About the role

A financial services company operating across Africa is looking for an experienced Managing Director to oversee its microfinance operations in several African countries. The role is fully remote, reports to senior management and covers overall business performance, operational management and strategic development, including recruiting and supervising local Branch Directors. The salary is 5,000 to 7,000 EUR per month (20,000 to 29,000 AED).

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate microfinance operations across multiple African countries.
• Develop and implement strategies to drive business growth, profitability and financial sustainability.
• Recruit, appoint and supervise local Branch Directors in each country.
• Set performance targets and monitor financial results, lending activities and portfolio quality.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, internal policies and risk management standards.
• Identify new business opportunities, partnerships and markets for expansion.
• Establish reporting systems and ensure accountability across branches.
• Report to senior management on business performance and strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Managing Director or General Manager of a microfinance institution in Africa (essential).
• Strong knowledge of African microfinance markets, lending operations, credit risk and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience in business development, financial management and team leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit and manage senior-level teams across multiple countries.
• Fluency in both English and French (mandatory).
• Ability to work remotely and coordinate teams across different countries.
