Manual Machinist

About the role

The Manual Machinist will perform complex set‑ups and machine a wide range of components using various machine tools. The role requires high precision, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to interpret drawings, sketches or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders and related equipment.
• Execute machining operations such as turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving and grinding.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and promote safety and quality at all times.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and report equipment issues for repair.
• Measure and record dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges and other devices.
• Document production and quality logs, and communicate shift hand‑over information.
• Train colleagues on equipment operation, tooling selection and reading of technical drawings.

Required profile

• Ability to work to extremely close tolerances.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling.
• Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
• Professional conduct when interacting with internal and external customers.
