Manual Machinist

About the role

Energy is hiring a manual machinist to operate a variety of machine types (conventional lathe, horizontal and vertical boring, milling and others) according to manufacturers' operating instructions and QHSE policies. The machinist ensures that products requested in Work Orders are manufactured and delivered within the required time frame and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate machines according to competence and manufacturer instructions, using the materials accompanying each Work Order.
• Check cutting tools and materials visually before starting work, replace tools from stores and report material defects to the Workshop Supervisor.
• Operate machines safely and maintain good safety and housekeeping standards under QHSE policies.
• Coordinate with the QC inspector after completion of work and ensure effective hand-over of work and safety information between shifts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequences of operations and setup requirements.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as needed.
• Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and accessories on mills, lathes, vertical borers, grinders and shapers.
• Perform other field, maintenance or shop duties assigned by the supervisor, and keep the work area clean.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of previous experience.
• Previous experience machining API connections is an advantage.
• Ideally extensive experience in a workshop environment for oil and gas companies.
• Basic understanding of welding.
• Good verbal and written English and basic mathematics skills.
• Ability to work in an office setting and operate office equipment; light physical effort; may require travel across the Middle East and GCC countries.

Required skills

• Advanced skills on a variety of machines: lathe, horizontal and vertical boring, milling and others.
• Proficiency in pedestal drilling, cast machining, ball grinding, surface grinding, milling machine, horizontal and vertical boring machines and ball machining.
• QC experience in dimensional checks with precision measuring equipment and shaft TIR checks.
• ITI in Trade Machinist and NCVT qualification.
